Pulmonary hypertension is a disease characterized by increased pressure in the pulmonary arterial bed. Patients usually present with shortness of breath with movement. When suspected, the first step is to measure right heart pressure by echocardiography. If elevated right heart pressure is detected, a type of angiography called vasoreactivity test is the gold standard performed for diagnostic purposes. Oxygen support - the use of anticoagulants - diuretics - oxygen and some disease-specific medications are used in the treatment along with cause-specific treatments.
